No, New Zealand does not offer a visa on arrival facilities for Indian citizens. Indians must obtain a visa before travelling to New Zealand.

A multiple-entry visa allows multiple entries within the visa’s validity period, typically with restrictions on the length of each stay.

For example, if you have a New Zealand visa with a validity period from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, you can enter and exit New Zealand multiple times within this period as long as each stay does not exceed the given length of stay (here, 180 days).

To be eligible for a New Zealand tourist visa, Indian citizens must:

  • Have sufficient funds to support their stay.

  • Prove the temporary nature of their visit.

  • Be free of any health conditions that could burden New Zealand’s healthcare system.

  • Have no significant criminal record.

  • Settle any outstanding financial obligations to the New Zealand government.

You will need the following documents to apply for a New Zealand visa for Indians:

  • Official documents: This includes your passport (all passports, old and new) and Aadhar card. Provide copies of all pages of the new and old passports. Please ensure that your current passport is valid for at least 6 months. 

  • Photograph: A recently taken photograph on a plain white background. The photo must be aligned with New Zealand visa photo specifications.

  • Proof of funds: The New Zealand government checks your proof of funds for the following reasons: to prove that you can financially sustain your stay in New Zealand and have legitimate reasons to return to your home country. Hence, you must provide the last 6 months’ bank statements, pay slips, last year’s ITR (and other property or mutual funds documents, if available).

  • Proof of employment: To prove substantial ties to your home country and ownership of your funds, provide 3 months’ salary slips, an employment contract and a leave letter from your employer. If self-employed, submit the company GST/DIN/MOA certificate and a cover letter on the company letterhead.

  • If sponsored: Sponsor’s documents, such as a passport and financial documents, and the sponsorship letter.

  • If invited: An invitation letter and the invitee’s documents (passport/visa/residence permit) are required

A sponsor for your New Zealand visa can be :

  • a New Zealand citizen;

  • a New Zealand resident if his/her resident visa has no section 49 conditions;

  • Your blood relative or spouse;

  • An organisation registered in New Zealand as a company incorporated society or charitable trust;

  • A government agency (for example, a tertiary education provider or a school’s board of trustees);

  • A community organisation (but only if the visa applicant is a refugee).
