Yes. Indian citizens need a visa to enter the Republic of Uganda. The nation does not provide visa-free access to Indian passport holders, whether their visit is for tourism or business activities.
You can easily retrieve the application ID by visiting the Uganda E-Immigration System website or clicking the Extend/Renew or the Manage Application sections under the “Applications” tab on the home page. You should provide the email used for the application process. All the application IDs associated with that email will be sent.
Ugandan immigration enforces a daily fine of around $30 for visa overstays and has the authority to detain individuals who exceed their visa duration until the corresponding fine is settled.
Depending on the purpose of your visit, Indians can apply for many types of visas. The most commonly applied are-
Tourist visa: This is given to travellers coming to Uganda for short-term (3 months) visits for the purpose of tourism, medical treatment, family visits, business visas, etc.
East Africa tourist visa: This is a joint tourist visa that allows travellers to travel to Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda only. It can be used multiple times for tourism purposes.
Transit visa: This visa is granted to travellers from Uganda to a third country. It is granted for a maximum of 7 days and is not extendable.
Multiple-Entry visa: This is granted to travellers who frequently travel to Uganda. It can be granted for 6 months, 12 months, or 24 months and allows the holder multiple entries for the duration.
Here are the basic requirements to apply for a Uganda visa:
Passport copy: A clear photocopy of the page in your passport containing your personal details. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date from Uganda.
Recent passport-sized photograph: A clear, high-quality photograph was taken against a plain white background, adhering to the specific dimensions and guidelines provided by the Ugandan immigration authorities.
Vaccination certificate (yellow fever): If you travel from or through a yellow fever-affected country, you must present a valid vaccination certificate. This is a mandatory requirement.
Yes. Those travelling to the Republic of Uganda must have a valid Yellow Fever Immunization certificate. You must upload it during the application process and may be asked to present it at the entry point.
